Come build your Moko Jumbie stilt-walking skills. June 2, 9, 16, 23 (6:00-8:00PM)
Location: 445 Milner Ave, Scarborough
Ages: 15-29
During these 4 sessions, participants will learn about the history of Moko Jumbie and Carnival while developing foundational stilt-walking skills in a safe and supportive environment. Instruction is paced thoughtfully to meet participants where they are.
Participants will also take part in mask decorating workshops and costume-making sessions at the Saldenah Carnival mas camp, offering an opportunity to immerse themselves in the full Carnival experience.
The classes centre safety, proper technique, balance, body awareness, and confidence, while remaining grounded in respect for the cultural tradition.
All equipment and craft materials are provided. Please arrive wearing comfortable running shoes and bring a water bottle.
*Participants must be able to commit to all 4 dates.
